November Cat Tattoo...
My instagram is full of the following:

I feel, really I do, that instagram just gets me. Like the algorithm is fucking all over it, and by it, I mean me.
So the other day I landed on the photo attached to this blog today. The title of the post was something like “your month = your cat tattoo" (follow bensmithtattoo).
And they were all clever. All of them. October was a spider cat, I mean how cool is that?
So I was not really sure what my month cat tattoo was going to be. I was going to be really disappointed if it was a turkey or pilgrim cat. I mean, who the fuck wants that?!
So when this photo popped up, I was like, “dude, you fucking nailed it!”
I feel like a cat smoking a cigarette is the perfect Sagittarius sign. And if you know any of us, then you will need no further explanation. That just works.
My daughter bought me a shirt that has two cats on it, one of them is tattooing stripes on the other while smoking a cigarette. I mean, is there a better t-shirt anywhere? I think not!
Oddly, I only have one cat tattoo...and it is kinda lame, very small, well hidden and well, not much to say about it other than what I just said. But this guy and his instagram post inspired me. I am now culling my creativity vault for a meaningful cat tattoo, and of course, the cat will be smoking, and likely drinking because that just seems very cat like. I don’t do either of those things, anymore, but I will always feel aligned with the spirit of a pack of smokes and a bottle of whiskey. And a dive bar.
As an aside, while typing this, my cat, Ophelia, just came and sat with her back to me, immediately in front of my computer. It is still dark outside because I woke up at 4 am for some fucking reason, so I can’t see if she has the whiskey and smokes, but her cattitude absolutely says, “yes, yes she fucking does!”
Only a cat would willingly come to you, just to block the view of the thing in front of you and then turn her back to you, like, “hey, I am literally sitting on you and blocking your view, but I care not at all about the fact that you are here and so I give you my back, you are welcome!”
And for reasons I cannot quite explain, I fucking love her more for it. It is this irreverence, this “fuck off you fucking fuck” attitude that makes my whole soul feel seen and understood. And that is how this guy’s post landed for me too. Of course the November cat tattoo is of a cat smoking! What the fuck else could it be??
And one more time, I feel seen. I feel connected to another human on the planet. And now I have to go pet the cat who is currently in my way but totally ignoring me. All feels right with the world...
