Can you describe yours? Do you have one?
I do, of course. I actually have a couple...for the most part I have the single version and the in love version...
Single version:
I wake up with no alarm, but early enough to feel the cool morning air, and see morning light coming into being. I have coffee in bed and write and read until I don’t feel like doing that anymore. I take care of my animals then I go for a walk, in the woods with my dog. I come home and meditate and do yoga. I have breakfast in my garden. I head to the beach alone, walk the beach finding beautiful vistas to photograph and tons of sea glass. I return home, shower, rest for a little while, then dress, hit a meeting then go meet friends or my kids/mom for dinner before going dancing or hearing a band. I am home before midnight and climb into bed, happy with a day well spent, but before I do that I have a bowl of ice cream in my backyard, underneath a beautiful night time sky.
In Love Version:
Exactly the same day except there is sex...several times.
And I have different variations, where I get a tattoo, or travel to some place new. Or take a trip. I have a selection of perfect days. When examined more closely, each perfect day has rest, relaxation, exercise, nature, people I love, animals, music and sunshine, well and sex if we are including me having a love life.
I wonder, how many of the elements of my perfect days are shared by others?
Nature
Prayer and meditation
Animals
Peaceful abiding
Exercise
Writing
Reading
People I love
Music
Photography
Spiritual practices
Travel
Ice Cream
It turns out, that most of my days are pretty perfect. This “perfect” day idea has become the basis for my every day life. I do not go to dinner with people every night, or hit a meeting every day, or go dancing every night, but the rest of it? I include most of the other stuff every single day of my life.
This life of mine is so very nearly perfect, that sometimes I feel bereft at what I am supposed to do next. What do you do when you find yourself living the life you have always wanted? Where do you go next?
I don’t think there is anywhere else to go, except to enjoy the life you are living. I am not sure how I ended up here, how my life evolved into this peaceful, sometimes quite boring life. But I am grateful for the opportunity and the privilege it entails. Sometimes, through some effort on your part, and a lot of grace, you get to live a life that is so very nearly perfect every day that sometimes you have to pinch yourself to make sure it is really your life...
I hope you have many perfect days. I hope your life has as many as you can handle. I hope your life evolves to a point where most of your days are pretty fucking perfect. That your days mirror the life you want to live. I really do. And if they don’t, I pray that you are able to retool, reroute and reconsider so that you are able to have as many prefect days as you can!
Again, still...
