Specifically, Taylor and Kelsey, no not that Kelce!

Over this weekend the woman who had to wait her whole life time to find a man that could match her, love her, and not be intimated by her intelligence, her fame and her absolute brilliance got married.  And also, Kelsey Pfendler, made landfall as not only the fastest woman to do it, she also beat the mens’ record by 9 fucking days!

I am just sitting here in my bed watching footage of the T-N-T wedding and Kelsey make landfall in Hawaii crying. Happy tears for the resiliency, the freedom and the drive of women in today’s world.  We have heard for years that you can’t have it all, or perhaps better said, you can have it all but there is a price.  But to see these two women accomplish such major life achievements just makes my heart so happy.

I am not happy that Taylor finally got a man. I am happy because she got a man that was finally worthy of her.  A man that understood the assignment, a man that was so sure in who he is that he could join her on her upward climb and not be threatened by her.  And if you are “that” kind of woman, you understand exactly how hard that is.  It is not easy to be intelligent, accomplished and wealthier than men.  And if you think it is, I will refer you back to Taylor’s song “The Man” where she quite eloquently rolls out that particular double standard...

And for Kelsey Pfendler, way to fucking go!  You had an idea that you put into action, you trained, you sacrificed and you showed millions of people around the world that there is nothing women can’t do when motivated with an idea and pledged to a purpose.

I have been reading a lot of books lately on women and our history.  It has been heartbreaking for sure.  All the things we were denied, all the things that were withheld from us. All the things we were told we couldn’t have, or be, or become.  I never want to forget how much the women that came before me paved the way for the life I have, that is currently man free.  Everything I have I earned and worked for.  The house, I bought it.  The car, I bought that too.  The education, I did that.  (I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the support of my parents that was the foundation that I built upon, they supported me and told me I could have it all and then supported me in getting there).

I am so grateful for the gift of women. The examples, the inspiration, the support.  And I know both Taylor and Kelsey have had the support and love of many women that have helped them grow into the best versions of themselves.  I am so happy Taylor gets her happily ever after and that Kelsey made it safely all the way to Hawaii!  Two feats that may seem, to some, as minor accomplishments.  But I disagree.  To find love in this world today as a woman that doesn’t require you to make yourself small, or curtail your passions and interests and gifts is no small feat.  And to row from California to Hawaii 9 days faster than any other human (man or woman) has ever done so before are auspicious signs for women today.  Both women demonstrating that the most daring thing to ever be is who you are.  And then stay committed to your dreams, aspirations and hopes for yourself and in so doing be a role model for women everywhere...

I am so grateful I get to live in this time where women are fucking killing it.  And by killing it, yes, I totally mean the patriarchy.
