It doesn’t really matter how many times you come. It is always spectacular. Always.
There is something just magical about this place. Something that makes you feel more alive, more occupying of your place in this life. It is so grand and showy. And even when you might feel like you are nothing next to its splendor, somehow, Yosemite always makes you feel like you are a part of this whole magical thing.
We got to the park late in the afternoon, after the day had other plans for us. The sun was warm and setting and we drove up Badger Pass to secure a place to watch sunset. It is always something to ascend the mountain and see the terrain change and the snow deepen. Not a lot of snow in the park right now, and with temperatures threatening an early spring, which always makes me feel badly for the new life that buds and then gets curtailed by a rageful and delayed winter.
We watched the sunset which was pretty spectacular. But it was nothing compared to the moon rise across the Valley floor. The view was awesome. A valley cast in blue, white light, reflecting off Bridal Veil Falls and the river. Full moon adjacent to Half Dome. It was almost surreal. Like stepping into a postcard.
I did not plan to be there for the full moon rise, just got lucky, again. I have lost count the number of times I have just happened to be in this most beautiful place in the world and gotten to watch sunsets, sunrises and moon risings that occupy my soul. Just so very blessed.
I left the park feeling grateful for the time offered and spent. Enjoying the time with Jodi and dipping into the life she is building here. Listening to her tell of the changes she wanted for her life and the courage it took to act on those ideas. The whole trip was inspiring! And fodder for what I am going to do next. What exactly is it that I want?
And one more time, Yosemite has altered me, changed me. Made me into some better version of myself...
Again, still...

One of the main obstructions to a smoother glide is not interacting much with nature. Yosemite park is awesome. The granite, the yellow pines, the Merced river...but I have not been to the valley in ages...the back country!! Backpacking all the time north of Hetch Hetchy...the trout, the isolation...
